Here at Michael Hill, we’re growing our Planning team and are hiring two Merchandise Planners across both Planner and Senior Planner levels.

About the roles

These are pivotal roles partnering closely with Buying to shape category strategies, optimise inventory and drive commercial results. Whether you join as a Planner or a Senior Planner, you’ll play a key role in balancing sales, margin, and stock to deliver strong outcomes.

What you’ll do:

• Maximise return on inventory through the right product mix, depth, and timing, driving full price sell-through and reducing markdown risk.
• Lead data driven ranging, allocation, and replenishment decisions to improve stock productivity and optimise working capital.
• Own or support category planning, aligning buying, supply, store availability, and marketing priorities.
• Forecast demand and manage OTB to deliver against sales, margin, and inventory targets.
• Actively trade your category, using insights to respond to performance and drive results.
• Partner closely with Buyers to develop and execute category strategies.
• Lead (Senior Planner) or support/mentor (Planner) junior team members and Planning Assistants.

What you’ll bring:

• Experience in merchandise planning within a retail environment (approx. 2+ years for Planner, 5+ years for Senior Planner).
• Strong commercial acumen with the ability to make data-led decisions.
• Experience managing or supporting forecasting, inventory, and OTB.
• Strong stakeholder management across Buying, Supply and Marketing.
• Ability to identify trends, risks and opportunities and respond quickly.
• A collaborative approach, with the ability to work cross-functionally and influence outcomes.
• For Senior level: proven leadership capability and experience developing others.
