We’re growing our Finance team at Michael Hill and are seeking a Senior Financial Accountant – Financial Reporting to join us. This role offers strong ownership, broad exposure, and the opportunity to make a meaningful impact across the business.

About the Role

You will be responsible for delivering accurate and timely financial reporting, while supporting key technical accounting areas and driving continuous improvement initiatives. The role offers a well-rounded mix of financial, statutory, and management accounting responsibilities.

Reporting to the Group Financial Controller, you will:

• Prepare consolidated management and statutory reporting.
• Assist with the coordination and execution of group month end close activities.
• Act as a coordinator and key point of contact for external auditors during interim and year‑end audits.
• Prepare management reporting packs and analysis for senior finance stakeholders.
• Prepare technical accounting position papers and accounting memos as required.
• Own lease accounting (AASB 16) and intercompany accounting.
• Partner with finance teams across business units and regions to ensure consistent and accurate reporting.
• Drive process, system and control improvements and support finance projects.

What you’ll bring:

• CA or CPA qualification and a degree in Accounting (or related discipline).
• 5+ years’ post-degree experience in financial accounting or reporting.
• Experience in a Big 4 accounting environment (highly regarded).
• Strong knowledge of IFRS / Australian accounting standards.
• Solid understanding of group consolidations and complex accounting treatments.
• Experience with month-end close, reconciliations, and variance analysis.
• ERP experience (Microsoft Dynamics 365 advantageous).
• Relevant external audit experience (a must).
• Solid Excel skills and confidence working with large data sets.
• A detail-focused, process-driven mindset with strong stakeholder engagement skills.
